As seen in the clip, which was posted to Reddit on Tuesday, the woman—named Ana Radionova, according to her Reddit profile—entered her backyard upon her return home, in search of Bear. The dog was nowhere to be found, though. After a few moments, the pooch emerged from the home, clearly curious about the person in his backyard. Then, almost like a light switch, the dog suddenly seemed to realize who it was that he was sniffing.
Bear immediately jumped up on his back paws to give Radionova a kiss on the face before spinning in circles and jumping repeatedly to greet her. Along with the routine, Bear, who is a German Shepard mix, according to Radionova, barked to express his excitement. After that, Bear ran around the home and backyard in a state of pure bliss. Radionova reciprocated the dog’s joy with lots of pets.
Reddit users are thrilled with the post, and continue to award it with a list of achievements, like the “wholesome award,” “bless up award” and “hugz award.”
One part of the video that commenters have clung to is Bear’s decision to quickly present Radionova with a toy ball. “‘I don’t have much but here’s my favorite ball in celebration of your return!’ Dog… probably,” u/RoxyandRiddick wrote.
Radionova herself commented further on the ball. “Quite accurate. He loves that ball very much,” she responded. “He’s like a baby with a pacifier. He constantly needs to be holding it in his mouth just in case a game of fetch arises.”
Other Reddit users commented on their own relationships with their respective pups, who get nearly as excited even when they aren’t gone for seven months at a time. “Same thing happens to me with my dog when I’m gone for seven minutes,” wrote u/simonbsez. U/SophiaofPrussia responded: “when i get the mail…”
In addition, Radionova revealed that while she was gone, she and Bear had FaceTime sessions. “We did FaceTime! He titled his head and whined when he heard my voice,” she wrote in the comments. “Ive wondered those questions about dogs too. I wonder how they process memories in their cute fuzzy heads.”
What all seemed to agree on: the reunion with Bear was day-making and wholesome. And some Reddit users are lucky enough to have similar encounters with their own furry friends day after day.
Newsweek reached out to Radionova for further comment but didn’t hear back at the time of publication.
