THQ Nordic didn’t go so far as to reveal the names of the games that will be making an appearance, though there are a few hints as to what they might wind up being. The first game appears to be a remake of what THQ Nordic describes as a “galactically beloved game/franchise”, which may hint at a sci-fi game potentially being remade. It’s unlikely that this would be a massive IP like Star Wars, though THQ Nordic did publish the remaster of Red Faction: Guerrilla, and it’s possible that another game from that franchise could be making a comeback.
The other game is a bit more of a mystery. The publisher describes it as a “new vision” of an exsisting franchise, which means the possibilities are pretty much endless. THQ Nordic has been on a shopping spree recently, having most recently purchased Warhorse Studios, the developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It’s possible that THQ Nordic now has that studio working on an unannounced project, which would be interesting to see given the team’s talent.
However, THQ Nordic did also purchase several IP’s, including Alone in The Dark, which seems like the most likely candidate for a new take on an established franchise. It’s been around for decades but hasn’t retrieved a mainline entry since 2008, and even that game was only met with mixed reviews. It would be interesting to see what THQ Nordic has envisioned for the franchise, and seems unlikely that they would let it go to waste.
Of course, this is all speculation at this point and should be taken with a pretty large grain of salt. It’ll really be impossible to know what THQ Nordic is working on until they officially announce it, though with Sony skipping E3, it’ll likely be quite a bit easier to catch what the publisher has in store for the coming months.
