Odur is the first official boss players will take on in Thymesia and is found at the end of the Sea of Trees zone. Odur is a challenging boss, especially for the first zone, where players are still getting used to the combat of the game. Alongside this, Odur has two phases the player must grind through in order to defeat him.

Odur Phase 1 Moveset and Counters

Odur’s first form can already be quite difficult for an early boss. He’s fast and quick, and his combos can easily put the player out of their misery quickly if they’re not careful. Odur has multiple combos he will throw at the player:

Two Hit Strike into Stab

Attack: The most common combo players will see Odur using is a two-hit strike from his cane followed by a short twirl into a stab. This will knock Corvus back and deal heavy damage. This attack doesn’t have too much windup to it and may catch players off guard in their combo. Counter: If the player is hit by the first strike it’s possible for them to dodge out of the way of the second and the stab. This will mostly come down to timing dodges to the pace at which Odur attacks; however, the player can also elect to parry his attacks instead. Alternatively, players can hold back until Odur uses this combo and then go in for their own to counter.

Double Kick Swing

Attack: Odur will charge up his leg and kick outwards twice. He then follows this up with a strike from his cane and then a teleport backwards. Counter: This move is quite telegraphed to players by his legs moving, so players should look to back up as much as they can when they see him wind up.

Teleport Counter

Attack: Odur will counter the player’s attack and teleport backwards, he then charges forward slicing quickly twice. Counter: This move is made incredibly obvious by the counter into the teleport. From there players should know that Odur will strike forward shortly, and be prepared to dodge in response.

Charged Kick Counter

Attack: Odur bends down slightly, charging up his leg. He’ll then kick forward twice and strike. After this he’ll teleport back away from Corvus. Counter: This attack is quite obvious by Odur’s swinging his leg back. Players should understand this animation and get ready to dodge out of the way, being mindful of his follow-up attacks.

Strike Kick Counter

Attack: Odur will charge up by swinging his cane backwards, he then strikes forward and spins kicking afterwards. Counter: This is one of Odur’s more basic attacks and should be avoided when the player sees the windup.

Card Toss

Attack: This move will have Odur teleport away and have him toss cards directly at the player. These can deal some pretty heavy damage if players aren’t careful. He’ll throw individual cards, followed up by a volley of them. He’ll then use a final card which will lead to a high damage attack that can potentially end Corvus. Counter: The player should look to close as much distance between Corvus and Odur. Getting close to Odur will stop him from being able to throw cards and prevent him from getting to his final powerful card. Dashing towards Odur in time with his card throws is definitely the way to go here.

Odur Phase 2 Moveset and Counters

Once the player has depleted Odur’s first health bar, he will enter his second phase. Here his moves are more deadly and have more steps to fake the player out.

Teleport Combo

Attack: Odur will teleport and laugh before proceeding to go invisible. While invisible, he’ll dash towards Corvus and unleash a slow 3-hit combo, followed up by 2 quick strikes. Counter: Odur’s first 3 hit combo has a similar timing to his original combo in phase 1. Players should look to dodge away once Odur reappears from his invisibility. Players can opt to deflect the quick strikes afterwards but can also wait these out before striking back at Odur.

Two Hit Strike into Stab

Attack: Odur will do a two-hit strike from his cane followed by a short twirl into a stab. This will knock Corvus back and deal heavy damage. This move is identical to the move in Phase 1. Counter: If the player is hit by the first strike, it’s possible for them to dodge out of the way of the second and the stab. This will mostly come down to timing dodges to the pace at which Odur attacks. Alternatively, players can hold back until Odur uses this combo and then go in for their own to counter.

Teleport Counter + Strike

Attack: Odur will counter the player’s attack and teleport backwards, he then charges forward slicing quickly twice. After a very short delay, he will strike a third time and then teleport back. Counter: This move is made incredibly obvious by the counter into the teleport. From there, players should maintain their distance from this attack.

Charged Kick Counter

Attack: Odur bends down slightly, charging up his leg. He’ll then kick forward twice and strike. After this he’ll teleport back away from Corvus. This move is identical to the move in Phase 1.

This move is identical to the move in Phase 1. Counter: This is one of Odur’s more basic attacks and should be avoided when the player sees the windup.

Card Toss

Attack: This move will have Odur teleport away and will have him toss cards directly at the player. These can deal some pretty heavy damage if players aren’t careful. He’ll throw individual cards, followed up by a volley of them. He’ll then use a final card which will lead to a high damage attack that can potentially end Corvus. This move is identical to the move in Phase 1. Counter: The player should look to close as much distance between Corvus and Odur. Getting close to Odur will stop him from being able to throw cards and prevent him from getting to his final powerful card. Dashing towards Odur in time with his card throws is definitely the way to go here.

Odur’s Critical Attack

Attack: Odur will flash green for a moment before slicing in a large area in front of him. As per all critical attacks failing to dodge this attack will result in huge damage to Corvus. Counter: Either using a feather or step jump will work to cancel his critical attack.

Odur’s Ultimate Attack

Attack: Odur will flash red and wind up, after completing the wind up he’ll charge towards the player. If he grabs Corvus he’ll deal an insane amount of damage which will likely end the player’s run. Counter: The only way in which the player can counter this move is by moving as far away as they can.

Loadout Tips

Short Dodge - This allows Corvus to dodge a second time in quick succession. This is a great talent to have for this fight, as it allows for players to dodge the follow-up attacks and not get caught in Odur’s combos. Short Claw - Short Claw allows players to chip away at wounded health at a faster pace instead of having to go all-in with Long Claw. Alongside this, Short Claw Lvl 2 grants healing when the player has a fully stacked offensive buff. This is one of the few ways that players can heal within a boss fight outside of healing. Plague Wounds - Plague Wounds can help deal more sustainable damage to Odur. It also allows players to move away and heal without having Odur heal back his wounds.

Plague Weapon

Halberd - Halberd is ideally the best Plague Weapon to bring into this fight as there are many windows present for its long windup. It does great damage and is also dropped by one of the enemies just before Odur.

Potions

General Potion - This is the only potion available to players for this fight. It’s recommended that players upgrade the number of potions they can hold rather than its healing capability, as Corvus’ health bar isn’t too large early into the game.

Gameplay Tips

Learn The Timing

The most important thing players can do for this fight is to memorize the rhythm/ timing in which Odur attacks. A lot of Odur’s combos will not fully stagger Corvus and, therefore, can be dodged out of the way midway through it. Taking Short Dodge or upgrading dodge will help with this.

Respect Odur’s Space

A lot of Odur’s attacks have either a windup or only last a limited time. Players can look to respect Odur by spacing out his attacks before going in with a combo of their own.

Use Feathers

Feathers aren’t only useful for canceling critical attacks. Using feathers as a form of chip damage allows for players to back out and heal while maintaining the wound damage on Odur.
