Tiger opened the day with a bogey before hitting four straight pars. He then hit a birdie on his sixth, 11th and 13th holes to go 2-under for the day and move up the leaderboard. But a disastrous double bogey-7 on Hole 15 derailed all the momentum he’d built up, and he finished the round with three straight pars.

Tiger Woods’ score: Results from Round 2
Hole 18 (Par 4, 485 yards): Shot 1: And he absolutely blisters that one into the fairway. If he can get to 1-under for the round that’d be a victory (albeit a small one). Shot 2: Tiger’s short of the green just right of the bunker. Will need to scramble for par. Shot 3: Tiger’s chip literally comes to a rest on the lip of the hole. Tiger can only laugh for the tap-in par. Shot 4: And that par will do it.
Hole 17 (Par 4, 480 yards): Par Shot 1: Tiger drives it about 280 off the tee. Pretty good look and he’s fairly center of the fairway. Shot 2: Tiger’s approach nets him a GIR, but it looks like he’s disappointed with the distance still left to the pin: about 30 feet. Shot 3: Tiger lags it to a few inches out. Two-putt par upcoming. Shot 4: Par.
Hole 16 (Par 3, 192 yards): Par Shot 1: Tiger hits the GIR on the par-3 16. Looks about 20 feet from the pin. Shot 2: Tiger’s left of the mark on his putt attempt. He’s looking at a 3-foot par attempt. Shot 3: Par.
Hole 15 (Par 5, 523 yards): Double bogey Shot 1: Another boomer for Tiger — who has hit the fairway every hole in the back nine — that lands on the left of the fairway. Shot 2: Tiger’s swinging mad after that one. It lands in the crowd well left and past the green, about 69 yards. Going to have to scramble. Shot 3: Not near enough force trying to get out of the rough. He’s still in it and will need two shots to save par, likely. Shot 4: Wow wow wow. Another chip that hardly goes the distance. He’s in the fringe now and is looking at a par-5 bogey. Shot 5: And the chip goes 4 1/2 feet past the hole. Looking at a bogey here at best. Shot 6: Ugh, he missed it again. A double bogey on a par-5. That’s going to eat at him. Shot 7: Double bogey-7.
Hole 14 (Par 4, 343 yards): Par Shot 1: Tiger’s drive lands fat in the center of the fairway. Another good setup for his approach. Shot 2: Nice wedge shot lands him on the green, maybe 10 feet away from birdie. Shot 3: Oh, Tiger just misses his second straight birdie. That’s got to hurt, but he’ll settle for the par. Shot 4: Par.
Hole 13 (Par 4, 447 yards): Birdie Shot 1: Tiger lands it right on the middle of the fairway. Excellent placement by him that sets him up nicely for his approach. Shot 2: Nice contact on the ball but not quite enough distance. It’s on the green but he has what looks like 23 feet between him and a birdie. Shot 3: Distance shmistance. Tiger sinks the 23-foot birdie, his third of the day, to go 2-under for the round and 4-under for the tournament.
Hole 12 (Par 3, 177 yards): Par Shot 1: Fore lands on the par-3 green, but well short of the mark. Tiger will need quite the lag putt here. Shot 2: Lag putt does its job and gets Tiger to about 4 feet from par. Shot 3: Two-putt par is a go.
Hole 11 (Par 5, 553 yards): Birdie Shot 1: Nice booming shot for Tiger on the righthand side of the fairway. He has a decision now on whether to attempt a GIR on his second shot or hit the fairway for an up and down birdie. Shot 2: Tiger breaks out the 5-wood and lands the GIR, albeit landing it somewhere 60-plus feet away from the pin. Shot 3: Nice lag putt is a little wide but lands him within 5 feet for another birdie. Let’s see if he can capitalize. Shot 4: And capitalize he does. He’s now 1-under for the round and 3-under overall.
Hole 10 (Par 4, 480 yards): Par Shot 1: Tiger hits fairway: already a better start on the back nine for him. Shot 2: Tiger’s approach shot lands him about 10 feet away from the pin, in the fringe. Shot 3: Not a bad look, but too much pull. Two-putt par. Shot 4: Par.
Hole 9: (Par 4, 407 yards): Par Shot 1: Tiger smokes a stinger deadcenter of the fairway. Now he’s cooking. Shot 2: Tiger didn’t like that one at all. It hits the green, but about 25 feet above the pin. Looking at another potential two-putt. Shot 3: Tiger’s long putt missed by this much to the left of the hole. Two-putt par upcoming. Shot 4: Par. Through the front nine, Tiger is 2 of 9 on fairways, has hit 5 of 9 GIRs and has 14 putts. He’s seven shots back of leader Troy Merritt.
Hole 8 (Par 3, 183 yards): Par Shot 1: Tiger hits the green in regulation but it’s about 30 feet uphill from the pin. Will have to be careful on his first putt. Shot 2: Decent lag on the par-3, but a little too much pull. It stops about a foot right of the pin. Shot 3: Two-putt par it is.
Hole 7 (Par 5, 550 yards): Birdie Shot 1: A nice boomer for Tiger lands on the rough about an inch left of the fairway. Shot 2: Tiger’s a little short of the green, about 60 feet from the pin. Shot 3: A nice chip lands Tiger about 4 feet from his first birdie today. Shot 4: And he sinks it to get back to even for the round and 2-under overall.
Hole 6 (Par 4, 439 yards): Par Shot 1: And Tiger fores left of the fairway. He hits the rough, seemingly between the two bunkers. Shot 2: Tiger overshoots the green and has it land in the rough about 30 feet from the pin. Shot 3: Wow, Tiger’s chip left it just an inch from the hole. Nearly had a birdie there, but he’ll settle for the par. Shot 4: Par.
Hole 5 (Par 5, 533 yards): Par Shot 1: Booms it into the fairway but it rolls into the leftside rough. Might have to keep it on the fairway on the approach before attempting an up and down. Shot 2: And that’s what he does. He’s on the fairway about 114 yards from the pin. He’ll try to wedge on there for an up and down. Shot 3: Tiger’s wedge lands on the green, but short, and rolls back. He’ll have 25 feet for birdie. Shot 4: The birdie attempt is off by a couple feet. He needed that one. He’ll settle for par. Shot 5: Par.
Hole 4 (Par 3, 195 yards): Par Shot 1: Tiger’s drive hits left of the pin on the par-3 and rolls into the fringe about 44 feet from the hole. Shot 2: A nice lag putt gets Tiger a few inches from the hole. Second half of an up and down upcoming. Shot 3: Par.
Hole 3 (Par 4, 377 yards): Par Shot 1: Tiger hits his first fairway of the day, about 116 yards from the hole. Has to clear the water hazard, and his approach game thus far has been middling. Shot 2: Tiger just hits the green and avoids the hill that would send it to the water. He has 11 1/2 feet uphill to birdie. Shot 3: Tiger comes achingly close to a birdie, but is 3 inches off the mark. Good look there, just a little off. Tap-in par upcoming. Shot 4: Par.
Hole 2 (Par 4, 444 yards): Par Shot 1: Welp. Tiger’s drive at 2 goes left again — way left. It’s into the crowd and more trees. Going to have to scramble again, looks like. Shot 2: Tiger’s on the green again after hacking out of the rough, but he’s still 91 yards away from paydirt. Might start Round 2 with two bogeys if he can’t salvage this. Shot 3: And sure enough, Tiger stuffs a wedge, closing the distance from 91 yards to 2 feet. That should be par. Shot 4: Par it is. On to Hole 3.
Hole 1 (Par 4, 452 yards): Bogey Shot 1: And we’re off and running. Tiger uses the fairway wood off the tee and it looks a little left of the fairway — under a tree. Not great Shot 2: Tiger’s out of the rough and onto the fairway just short of the green (after a one-handed follow through after hitting his club on the tree). He’s 38 feet from the hole and in good position for an up and down. Shot 3: Tiger goes with the Texas wedge from the fairway, but it rolls about 6 feet past the hole. Got to put his short game to work again early to salvage par. Shot 4: And he missed it. Not a great way to start the day but he’s still 1-under for the tournament. Shot 5: Bogey.
